Dear Parents and Carers,
We are thrilled with the outstanding musical performances of the past week. The response from our community has been overwhelmingly positive, and we have received numerous accolades for the quality of the show. Notably, both Lisa Lake, the Mayor of Auburn, and Lynda Voltz expressed their deep appreciation for the musical.
The enthusiasm for the musical does not stop at our local community; we have been inundated with requests for a repeat performance in Sydney. Moreover, we have received inquiries from different states across Australia, with many parents expressing their regret at having missed this spectacular event. Please rest assured that we are committed to doing our utmost to stage this musical once again in Australia to accommodate those who missed out.
We are excited about the prospect of reprising this remarkable performance with a select group of students. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Necmi Uzun, the writer of our musical, and the entire musical committee. Their tireless dedication, working day and night, made it possible to present this extraordinary show to our audience of 600 guests. Witnessing them on stage, I was deeply moved, as the scenes brought tears to the eyes of our guests.
Furthermore, our Maarif students demonstrated the positive impact we have on the community. There were moments that left me pleasantly surprised, making me realize the immense potential we possess and the vital role our school plays in the community. Personally, I am proud to affirm that our school's musical not only met but exceeded the high standards of even the most prestigious schools in Australia.
I want each of you to take pride not only in your children but also in Maarif as a whole. I, too, take immense pride in serving as the Principal of this exceptional school. It is both a privilege and a profound experience for me.

Kind regards,
Dr Zeynep Yaseen

The performances were simply amazing, showcasing the dedication and hard work that both students and staff put into making this event a grand success. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the students, parents, and staff who played a pivotal role in making 'Bir Sevdadir Anadolu' a night to remember.
This term has brought another reason for celebration as we marked a significant milestone for the Republic of Türkiye. On October 29th, 2023, we joyously celebrated Cumhuriyet Bayrami. To further embrace the spirit of this special day, we organized the Cumhuriyet Soccer Tournament for our students, fostering teamwork.
A special delegation of students from Türkiye, led by, the Education Attaché, and a group of PhD students, visited the International Maarif Schools of Australia. They engaged with our selected students from years 7 to 9, fostering cultural understanding and friendship.
Sports have been a major highlight this term, with our Volleyball and Tennis teams actively participating in the SWISSA competition. Their dedication and hard work are truly commendable. In addition to sports, our students have been busy in the classroom, diligently completing their coursework and assignments.
We believe in holistic education, and as such, our students have been actively involved in various extracurricular activities. Students participated in a Growth and Development workshop for our year 7 students, focusing on personal development and well-being.
They have participated in Science and Geography excursions, Design and Technology workshops, celebrated National Kindness Day, marked National Water Week, took part in a Talk-and-Walk-a-thon, celebrated National Recycling Week, and participated in a year 6 Graduation Fundraising event. These activities have not only enriched their knowledge but have also fostered a sense of responsibility and care for the environment and their community.
Term 4 also saw the organization of school photos, capturing precious moments for students and their families to cherish.
We strongly believe in fostering open communication between the school and our parents and families. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions, concerns, or feedback. We are here to support your child's educational journey in every way possible.

Year 7 are working on a film study on Finding Nemo where they have been looking at the ways in which meaning is created in the medium of film. They are learning about cinematic techniques used by directors to manipulate audience reactions to characters and plot. They are examining big picture ideas, such as disability, relationships between children and parents as well as acceptance. They will be assessed on their learning by sitting an open book exam.
Year 8 are studying Media and what a time to be critiquing bias in the media! Students are analysing newspaper articles for bias and stereotyping, as well as learning how to write letters to the Editor and other media related texts. They have had a lot of fun reading and analysing newspapers.
Our Year 9 students have been looking at culture from the perspective of First Australians by studying the film, Rabbit Proof Fence. This has been a unique exploration into institutionalized racism and we have engaged in story telling to capture the sense of loss and injustice the Stolen Generation experienced as a result of government policies to remove children from their families.
