We Have Discovered Sea Life!
One of the highlights of this fortnight was going to the Sydney Aquarium. Students from Kindergarten had the opportunity to look at and explore the life of the underworld treasures. The different creations and how they move were investigated. Students were able to get close to some interesting sea creatures. Excursions are a keyway to develop a child's confidence in knowledge as they can explore and begin to understand the real world.

Sea Life Fun
As part of HSIE Geography, students in kindergarten visited the Sea Life Aquarium!
This term, students in kindergarten explored different places of significance and investigated their location in class using maps. The Sea Life Sydney Aquarium provided students with a unique opportunity to discover, explore and connect with a place where all underwater creatures thrive.
Paint, Symmetry and Smiles!
Painting provides students with an avenue to convey their ideas, explore colors and express different emotions!

Celebrating Another Successful Term
Year 3 students had a great time celebrating the completion of Term 3. Students have spent the last 10 weeks working hard on reaching their learning goals and developing their skills across all Key Learning Areas. Students celebrated their achievements with a class party on the final day of Term 3, where they participated in some fun activities and got to enjoy a movie at the end of the day. We are looking forward to an exciting and productive Term 4.

Be Safe, Be Supportive
Students of Year four had the possibility to take part in a webinar called “Be an eSafe Kid: Be Safe, Be Supportive”. They had been capable of apprehend the idea of online games with stranger and the way to be safe. Students had been really engaged and had a few very thrilling perceptions in this topic.

In music, students learned different types of beats in the song "Rubbish Rap." Students delve into the use of instruments made from recycled materials. They were very enthusiastic and took pride in the music they produced with their instruments.

Symbio Wildlife Fun
What better way to celebrate nearing the end of another successful term than with an excursion? Year 5 were given the exciting opportunity to attend Symbio Wildlife Park to embark on a guided tour discovering interesting facts about the growth, survival and adaptation of living animals. The action-packed day began with the rangers giving students a theoretical background about the different animals that live here in Australia and across the world and how they survive in their environment. Students were able to get up close and pat a python and lizard whilst also being able to hand feed the kangaroos, wallabies and emus.
Students were able to experience native and exotic animal species up close and in their custom enclosures, observing physical conditions of environments including wetlands, water lagoons, bushland, deserts and rainforests. Students could analyse how various conditions of the environment affect the growth and survival of living things and understand the structural and behavioural features of various wildlife in supporting their survival. Year 5 also learned of the programs and organisations that focus on the sustainable living of almost extinct animals.
Year 5 represented Maarif proudly and we were fortunate to have parent helpers that too were able to witness the respectful behaviour and excitement of the day. It’s moments like these that will be a long-lasting memory for students and teachers alike.
Way to go Year 5!

Recognition and Reward
As we conclude Term 3, it is important to reflect on all the learning and success that has taken place. Students in Year 5 have been working exceptionally hard this term and they have received many Green Cards which leads them to getting closer to receiving a Principal’s Award and the Maarif Medal. Year 5 have already celebrated one student reaching a Principal’s Award with a few students closely following behind. It’s so pleasing to see the effort that has gone into this term academically and socially. Students have shown a great level of maturity this term and there have been conversations about leadership and what that means to out students and also the younger students. I’m so proud to have seen the wonderful achievement academically and personally. Awards are the physical symbol of this but it’s been great to see the confidence increase in the students as a result.

It’s been a term of quality and success and I wish you all a very well deserved holiday break.

Electricity
Year 6 students had a dual approach to our science and technology Physical science unit this term. We started the unit by developing our understanding of the different forms of energy and how they can be transferred and transformed in our daily lives. They developed intercultural understanding as they continued to consider the importance of electricity in our daily life and lives of other people in another country. Throughout the unit personal and social capabilities and ethical understandings were developed as students consider how electricity has transformed household life and the consequences of generating electricity from renewable and non-renewable sources. We then moved onto the second phase of the unit where students used practical science skills to investigate electrical circuits and perform an experiment with their very own DIY electrical houses! They were able to join with their peers to design, test and evaluate a brief requiring them to create a working electrical model of a house made from sustainable items. Every student demonstrated advanced house designs as well as a great understanding on parallel and series circuits with their model electrical houses.
Here are some images of the amazing work produced by our Year 6 students.

Turkish Lessons with Mrs Akdemir
Year 1 and 2 played some online games to revise the topics covered in Term 3.
For revision, students in Years 3 and 4 worked in pairs answering questions by writing it down onto their small boards. This was also a competition of which group completes the answer on time. All students were engaged and enjoyed this activity.
Wishing all Maarif students to enjoy this term break and have the opportunity to relax and reconnect with friends and family.

Kindergarten to Year 6:
Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmetullahi wa barakatuh,
All praise be to Allah (SWT) and may peace and blessings be upon His beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW), his family, companions and to all those who follow him.
Our Primary students have successfully completed their creative Islamic Studies projects and tasks. Each task and project given to students were related to the topics and lessons covered in class.
For Qur’an Studies, beginners were reciting, practising from the Elif Ba book and students on the Mushaf practicing reciting with Tajweed. Students were memorising chapters (Surah) and verses from the Qur’an which was displayed on the smartboard throughout the term. Our Kindergarten students were learning the harakat of letters.
I would like to congratulate our students for their hard work and motivation.

Dear Parents/Carers,
Maarif students are expected to wear their Summer school uniform during Term 4. Please be reminded of the importance of naming all items of school uniform with your child’s name and class. This means that lost items found around school can easily be returned.
Uniform Shop will be open during the School Holidays on the following days:
Tuesday 4th October, 10-12pm
Wednesday 5th October, 2-4pm
We consider that uniform is important for several reasons.
- It provides pupils with a sense of identity and pride in their school.
- It enhances the appearance of pupils and therefore the reputation of the school.
- It helps to instil a sense of purpose in pupils when they put on their uniform in the mornings.
- It helps overcome the worry about “fitting in” with fashions and keeping up with other children. All children feel equal and there is no stress, competition or worry for families about expensive brands/labels.
- It overcomes the problem for both parents and teachers about what is suitable attire for school.

Items of jewellery, watch face, glasses and a boxing glove was found, please contact the front office on 1800 622 743. Unclaimed items will be donated to the school building fund by the end of October 2022.
It is kindly requested that any homework or school assignment printing should be completed at home and not requesed from the school office.
Written communications to the school, including emails and letters, please include student's full name and class for identification purposes. Thank you.
Just a friendly reminder,
For families who are planning to take leave, please ensure to follow the proper process. Parents/Guardians must fill out the Student Extended Absence Application Form, attached below, in advance as well as providing the supporting documentation. When completed, please email the form and documents to admin@maarif.nsw.edu.au. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact the school office.
