Shapes
Kindergarten students refined their fine motor skills by manipulating with the playdough and making 2D and 3D shapes. This allowed them to roll, poke, pinch and shape the dough to identify the many shapes we have learnt in class. Some students were very creative and did a great job to show me how well they can identify their shapes.

Let’s dive into Year 1!
Year 1 are exploring a range of topics applying various knowledge and skills through hands on activities.
In Art, students have been learning about animals under the sea. Students have learnt about different techniques required to complete a drawing of an animal under the sea. Students have also investigated how different materials can be used and manipulated to create sea animals.




In writing students are focusing on Informative writing, Year 1 are learning about fact and fiction and how to create their own informative text. In Maths, students have been using hands on materials to practice place value and addition.

Week 6 Assembly
In week 6, Year 2 were given the responsibility to run assembly and they did an excellent job doing so. They also presented a nasheed in front of the whole school, which was enjoyed by all the students. Students were so excited to be showcasing their talent, well done Year 2 for such a great performance!

Week Five Assembly
It was an honour for Year Three to present the week five assembly. Students made the most of the opportunity and delivered a memorable assembly where their excellent communication and leadership skills stood out. Year Three also performed their class item, singing a famous Australian song titled ‘I Am Australian’. They did a wonderful job and should all be very proud of themselves.

Writing time
Students of Year 4 are focusing on learning how to write informative text and their structure. They are working on extracting information that is relevant to the text. The students did marvelous work on independently locating the relevant information on their chosen animal. They were able to write complete information report with headings. It was a proud moment for everyone.

Got Game
This term, Year 5 students have had the opportunity to jump into gymnastics. This week focused on swinging, jumping and rolling. The activities included swinging on the high bar and holding toes to bar and chin ups for isolation and core control. This was further practised with holding of isolation positions of plank and v-sit on a mat. The highlight of the class was jumping on the angle trampoline to practise pencil, star, tuck, straddle and turns. All of these activities help students to build physical activity, strength, flexibility and most importantly, flexibility.

Year 6 explores Picasso’s Cubism Art
In Visual Arts, year 6 students have been creating artworks comprising of musical instruments - inspired by the artworks of Picasso which highlights the elements of Cubism. They focused on techniques such as line, colour and shape to assemble their artworks together. Once they complete their backgrounds, they will be positioning their musical instruments drawn on top of their backgrounds created. This will then complete their task at a whole. As seen in the photographs below, students worked outdoors to enjoy nature and immerse themselves with creativity.

Istiklal Marşı
Turkish National Anthem (Istiklal Marşı) was officially adopted on 12 March 1921.
Due to the 100th anniversary of Adoption of the Turkish National Anthem, this week, students listened and recited ‘İstiklal Marşı’ both with and without music in the classroom.
As a memory of this great occasion, students were gifted with the Turkish National Anthem keychains.

Turkish Lessons - with Miss Esra Pamuk
Year 1
Year 1, played new games with Ms. Pamuk in last weeks. They favourite game was the matching activity on the smartboard. They learned a lot of new animals in Turkish when they were playing these games. Also, they are practicing thier Turkish letters with their full of fun book. They have improved a lot and got reward points in a very short time due to thier big efforts. Well done Year1!
Year 2
The favourite activity of Year 2 was reading in the last weeks. Especially Turkish rhymes was the top one. They had a very enjoyable time combining reading activities with rhyme games. They learned Turkish numbers up to 100 with their toys named "pickle". They continue to dance and learn with new songs. They are already excited about the events they will do in the coming weeks.
Year 4
Year 4 are enjoying the drama activities in Turkish classes. They are writing thier own scenario and acting, then voting for the best group. These activities encourage them to talk in Turkish. Meanwhile their self confidence is also growing.
This term Ms. Pamuk focused on four language skills which are listening, speaking, reading and writing. In the writing and reading lessons, student are using their super fun books. During the listening section they are learning wonderful Turkish songs, for speaking Turkish they are role playing thier drama activities.

Kindergarten
In Kindergarten we are learning that Allah is Kind and Merciful, and that we should “Thank” Allah for everything He has given us. We learnt to say “Bismillah” before we eat or do anything. Students role played in class eating by saying Bismillah before they start eating, and “Alhamdulillah” once finished.

In Quran memorization Year 1 are doing Surah Al Kawther, the students are enthusiastic about learning the verses of the Surah and enjoying learning the meaning of the verses. They are learning the Arabic letters in Quran lesson. Please help your child in memorizing of the verses of the Surah and the Arabic letters as well. I appreciate all your help.

İstiklal Marşı'mızın 100. Yılı Kutlu Olsun!
We commemorated the 100th year anniversary of our Turkish National Anthem on 12 March. The Turkish National Anthem is a symbol of independence, freedom, hope and devotion. We remember Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the person who wrote the lyrics of our Turkish National Anthem, who was a great Turkish-Islamic poet.


Students have been having so much fun in their Sport program Got Game. Mr David who is their sport teacher is teaching them how to balance, jump, hop and do relay races in their designated teams. Kindergarten are using their listening skills to learn new games and utilize new equipment that will allow them to master their gross motor abilities and speed.

Students will be expected to be dressed in their winter school uniform during Term 2 and Term 3. Our uniform stock has arrived. Thank you to our parents Ms Ghazi, Ms Sonmez, Ms Duran, Ms Uzum and Ms Kizilkaya for helping unpack the boxes of school uniforms. The uniform shop will be open during the last week of this term.

eSafety is offering a new parent webinar series in 2021 – eSafety’s guide to cyberbullying and online drama. Parents are encouraged to join one of the free webinars to learn how we can help young people develop the skills to be safer online. The NSW Government is helping kids get active with the Active Kids program.
The Active Kids program provides two $100 vouchers for parents, guardians and carers of school-enrolled children to use towards sport and active recreation costs each year.
Voucher 1 is valid January to December and Voucher 2 is valid July to December.
To use the voucher, find a registered activity provider and present your voucher when you sign up.
You can apply for a voucher for each eligible student. You can use the voucher for registration, participation or membership costs with an approved Active Kids provider.
